Sir Keir Starmer and European allies have called on Israel and Iran to refrain from further escalation, while the PM led a high-level meeting of ministers after overnight Israeli strikes targeted the country’s nuclear facilities.

The Prime Minister, France’s President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for a “diplomatic resolution” to the stand-off between Israel and Tehran.
