Starbucks offered Seattle staff a move 2,000 miles to Nashville. Bloomberg reports the offer came with a pay cut of at least 5%, which Starbucks put down to cheaper living in Tennessee. Few took it.
Starbucks will not say how many accepted. The one relocation figure it has published is the number who refused, and those 120 people are now on a layoff notice. Starbucks filed it with the Washington State Employment Security Department, and it covers 224 people at or reporting to the Seattle headquarters.
