'Starbucks and chocolates' - Cabin crew tells holidaymakers the 'best ways' to upgrade to first-class for free in-flight

Economy travel can be brutal. Being crammed into the same tight airplane seat for hours on end is undeniably gruelling, but it's a different story for those who pay a little extra to travel in style in first-class.

Giving economy passengers the chance of tasting a slice of luxury in the future, a flight attendant has shared an easy tip to receive a free upgrade while on your travels.

Sharing insightful information on TikTok, air hostess Cierra Mistt - who boasts more than 3.1million followers - has shared her inside secrets on the job, showing just exactly how you can land yourself at the front of the plane for no extra cost.

The Mirror reports that the social media influencer explains that it costs nothing to be kind, and a small gesture can see you land a five-star seat for your courtesy. While answering some of the most frequently asked questions she faces as a flight attendant, Cierra revealed there's actually 'a lot of ways' you can get upgraded to first-class.

She explained: "One of the easiest ways to get free upgrades is literally just being nice to your gate agent and fight attendant. The miracles we can work when we're given some Starbucks or a bag of chocolates - especially those long days where we have back-to-back flights and don't even have time to go get some food."

She also said that passengers are sometimes moved from the seats right at the back on the plane to the more expensive ones at the front, but it's not simply a matter of 'being nice'. Cierra added: "Normally if our flight isn't full, we have to move people for weight and balance purposes.

"That being said, normally all aircrafts are tail-heavy, so if we have to move people up to the front, where do you think we're going to take them from? The back."

Following the clip, Cierra added the disclaimer: "These aren't guaranteed to work; these are ways that I have known to work. Also, I post on behalf of MY views; not my company. That's all."

TikTokers rushed to the comment section to praise the insightful clip - with one fellow member of cabin crew agreeing that being pleasant pays off. One person said: "Catch me carrying Starbucks cold brew for the flight attendant on my next flight."

A second added: "This is amazing! thank you for the advice and ill start bringing candy for the crew!"

And another viewer who works as a member of cabin crew replied: "I've upgraded many people for free when oversold in coach. Always to people who are pleasant and nice to me. Yup, mostly that's all it takes."
