Star Wars Zero Company release date leaks one day before Summer Game Fest, as XCOM veterans' new strategy game joins the crowd avoiding GTA 6

Just one day before the main Summer Game Fest show kicks off, the release date for Star Wars Zero Company has been subject to last-minute leakage, and it looks like the new strategy game from former XCOM veterans is joining the crowd of games also taking refuge from the huge industry black hole known as GTA 6.

Summer Game Fest confirmed the new Star Wars game would be debuting another look at its turn-based tactical gameplay during tomorrow's show, but a new report from the ever-reliable Dealabs Magazine seemingly gives us an advanced look at a few details.

Star Wars Zero Company is reportedly launching on August 27, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with a Standard Edition priced at $49.99 on PC and $59.99 on consoles. A Deluxe Edition is then said to cost $59.99 on PC and $69.99 on consoles, though there aren't yet any details as to what comes with the more expensive package or why there's a price difference between platforms.

The next far, far away adventure is only narrowly dodging the busiest September in years as multiple heavy hitters - such as Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and The Blood of Dawnwalker - look to avoid the incoming beast that is GTA 6. A few more games will probably try to squeeze in there when the dust on NotE3 season is settled, too - Gears of War: E-Day seems like a good candidate.

For those out of the loop, Star Wars Zero Company comes courtesy of Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends, Jedi Fallen Order) and Bit Reactor, a studio made up of some veteran developers who worked on XCOM and Civilization, and follows a ragtag group of mercenaries during the tail end of The Clone Wars.

Can't wait? In the meantime, check out the best Star Wars games to play right now.
