The season three finale of The Mandalorian was released this morning in the UK on Disney Plus - and fans have been left extremely divided about its ending.
The Mandalorian is a Star Wars spin-off, set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. It follows Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.
The season three finale, labelled The Return, centred around a battle for Mandalore, with Bo-Katan and Din Djarin’s forces on one side and Moff Gideon’s Mandotroopers on the other. While some viewers praised the episode’s emotional ending, others felt it was rushed and didn’t match the highs of the previous installment.

The debate is certain to rage on until the release date of season four. Please note that this article will contain major spoilers.
There was plenty of action between the two forces, with Din proving himself to be worthy of a Mandalorian status in battle. However, the Armorer said he can’t be baptised as one yet as he can’t speak the words of the Creed.
Din instead chooses to adopt and live with Grogu, affectionately known as Baby Yoda, as his son. This drew emotional reactions from some fans, with one tweeting: “It’s so cute that Din and Grogu have their own little home together.”
Another said it was “the most wholesome ending ever” to the season. A third added: "All I’ve ever wanted us for Din Djarin to have a physical home and now he does, with his son, I’m crying so hard I might pass out.”
However, others had more mixed reactions to the episode, arguing that it felt rushed and some plot threads could have been developed.
One said on Twitter: "Truly don’t know how to feel about The Mandalorian season finale. A lot of emotions but a lot of missed marks too."
Another added: "The season finale of The Mandalorian was possibly one of these most meh conclusions to a season for any show I have ever watched. So many things they could have done better throughout the whole season but it felt like so many things were left behind and not concluded. Do better."
Those disappointed will hope that the next season will tie up some of those loose ends. Showrunner Jon Favreau, who has wrote or co-wrote every episode of the third season, will be returning to the show.
No release date has been confirmed, although it is likely to premiere next year in late 2024. It was announced earlier this month that Mandalorian director Dave Filoni will also be directing a new Star Wars film soon, which will bring together the stories from this and other spin-offs in the franchise.
