Stansted passenger calls 999 after forgetting paperwork

Police have spoken out after an airport passenger phoned 999 when they were refused permission to board a flight. It emerged that they had forgotten some of their paperwork.

Essex Police said they received a call to the emergency number from a passenger at Stansted Airport, reports EssexLive. It happened in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

The force said that the caller had forgotten some documents that were needed to board the flight and they were being refused boarding at the check in desk as a result.

According to the force, the caller had forgotten some paperwork needed to board the flight and were being refused entry at the check-in desk. The call is thought to have come in to the control room during the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

Needless to say, Essex Police did not take too kindly to the caller taking up valuable resources reserved for genuine emergencies. The force's control room Twitter account has now issued a warning.

It said: "We have just taken a call from a passenger at #StanstedAirport who has called 999 as they forget some paperwork for their flight and were being refused entry at the check in desk.

"This is not what the 999 emergency line is for. Think before you call."
