Stand-in Lorraine host Carol Vorderman confirms Scottish host's return to ITV

Stand-in Lorraine host Carol Vorderman has appeared to confirm when the Scottish host will return to the programme after her forced holiday.

The former Countdown host has been presenting Lorraine Kelly's morning television programme all this week, after the Scottish star contracted coronavirus, reports Manchester Evening News. Carol even left fellow presenter Susanna Reid doing a double-take as she arrived to the ITV studios in the early hours.

During her first show on Lorraine, Carol explained: "Sadly, Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what and I'm sitting in here for a few days which I'm delighted to do.

"But we are wishing her a speedy recovery." On Thursday morning, Carol seemed to give an update on Lorraine's return process, stating: "I'm still here filling in for Lorraine today.

"She's feeling a lot better thank goodness and is hoping to be back in her chair where she belongs on Monday. I'm looking forward to that."

Lorraine had thanked Carol earlier in the week on social media for her quick slotting into the show. Lorraine wrote: "Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend.

"Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon. Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back."

The Scottish presenter shared a photo on social media of her beloved pooch Angus and daughter Rosie's puppy, Ruby. She wrote on Instagram: "The dreaded Covid has finally caught up with me. I am so thankful to the scientists who developed the vaccine! Being looked after by @rosiekellysmith @rubyisasausage and @steveandangussmith - thanks to @carolvorders for hosting @lorraine until I’m back ! #covid19."

We wish Lorraine a speedy recovery, and hope to see her back in the hotseat on Monday morning. Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV from 9am onwards.
