Stan Collymore responds to angry Nottingham Forest fan over Aston Villa tweet

Former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore has responded to an angry Reds fan on social media in the wake of the 2-0 defeat to another of his old clubs in Aston Villa.

A goal from Bertrand Traore and a late strike from Ollie Watkins sealed all three points against relegation strugglers Forest. Defeat on Saturday leaves Steve Cooper's team deep in trouble, with the Reds dropping into the bottom three as they face the prospect of dropping straight back down to the Championship after earning promotion last season.

After the game, Collymore responded to an angry supporter who questioned his loyalty to the Reds after he tweeted his delight at Villa's current position in the table, saying 'up the Villa' as they moved into sixth place.

The 52-year-old responded: "Yes, because I helped your club get promoted and get to 3rd in the Premier League. 50 goals in 68 games and won matches for you.

"But I'm a VILLA fan from a FAMILY of VILLA fans and I want MY CLUB to WIN against ANY other club. It's REALLY simple."

Collymore did offer words of encouragement when another asked 'down with the Forest?'

He replied: "Get that City Ground back on track and everything will be fine! Keep believing!!"
