Stan Collymore makes Leeds United relegation claim in Nottingham Forest boost

Stan Collymore has backed Nottingham Forest to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Reds have won just one of their last 13 matches as they currently sit in the bottom three on goal difference. Steve Cooper's side have just four games left to secure their top-flight status for next season.

But Forest were only narrowly beaten 2-1 at Brentford last weekend after beating high-flying Brighton 3-1 at the City Ground a few days earlier.

And former Forest striker Collymore believes the Reds' fixture list compared to their relegation rivals will help them stay up. The 52-year-old has gone with Southampton, Leeds and Everton to go down.

He said in his CaughtOffside column: "Southampton look doomed – I think they’re probably most people’s first pick, so no surprises there.

"Everton’s remaining fixtures look really, really tough, so they’re my second pick and purely because Nottingham Forest have a couple more winnable games (on paper) than Leeds United do, I am going to make the Whites my third pick."

Forest face Southampton in a huge relegation six-pointer on Monday night. They then go up against Chelsea followed by Arsenal before ending the season away at Crystal Palace.
