Stagecoach has announced its bus fares will rise in Bristol to 'reflect the rising costs of running services' in the area. The bus company is putting its prices up for the first time in nearly two years, blaming costs across the industry which it says have risen by around 12 per cent.
After First Bus announced a major change to its fares in Bristol and the West, Stagecoach has followed suit, and is introducing a new day ticket bundle for hybrid workers who aren't in the office every day. Its Gold Day and MegaRider tickets will now extend across the whole region, and less-used tickets such as the DayRider will be withdrawn.
Stagecoach says fare increases are below the annual rate of inflation of 7.5 per cent, and will go towards the day-to-day running of services. They will come into force this Sunday, March 20.
