Staff predictions for Chargers vs. Chiefs in Week 4

The Los Angeles Chargers kick off Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Who is going to come out victorious?

Here is a look at the predictions from each of our writers at Chargers Wire:

Gavino:

The Chargers got bit by the injury bug at the worst time, right before they face the reigning Super Bowl champs. I’ve said it for awhile, but as long as Justin Herbert is under center then Los Angeles has a chance. Unfortunately, he’s dealing with a high ankle sprain and I can’t see him being at full strength in just one week, that’s even if he plays. Whether it’s Herbert or Taylor Heinicke, they will be without their starting offensive tackles. Expect a lot of pressure sent from Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Los Angeles’ defense will be without safety Derwin James. There’s just not a lot in their favor. Chiefs 21, Chargers 14

Alex K:

With either a limited Justin Herbert or Taylor Heinicke under center behind at least one backup offensive lineman, I wouldn’t expect much from the Chargers offense on Sunday. JK Dobbins could get rolling against a weak Kansas City rushing defense, but the lack of threat through the air for the Chargers will allow the Chiefs to pack the box and make life difficult. While the Chiefs haven’t been the sharpest on offense to start the year, they should be able to find enough plays to comfortably beat a banged-up Chargers squad. Chiefs 24, Chargers 13
