Staff looking for new jobs over claim Nottinghamshire-based contractor 'ceased trading'

Staff at a Nottinghamshire-based contractor say they're looking for new jobs. It comes as reports suggest Edwinstowe-headquartered Woodhead Construction has unexpectedly 'ceased trading'.

Employees took to LinkedIn to say they were looking for new opportunities. However, the exact reasons why are yet to be officially confirmed and the construction company declined to comment when approached by NottinghamshireLive.

One man, who in his LinkedIn profile is described as a construction site manager, wrote: "I am now seeking a new construction management role and would appreciate your support. I bring to the table nearly seven years of commercial, housing and infrastructure construction experience.

"If you are looking for a hardworking, passionate and thorough construction manager please get in touch, and thank you in advance for any advice or opportunities you can offer."

Since the family-run business was established in 1946, the construction company has been involved in a series of major development projects. The refurbishment of Lincoln Castle’s walls and Victorian Prison and the restoration of the 19th-century Southwell Workhouse are among the works carried out.

The firm was also involved in the creation of the new Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre which opened in 2018. Latest accounts for Robert Woodhead Holdings Ltd for the year to October 31, 2021 show a pre-tax profit of £535,000 from a turnover of £44.3m.

On Wednesday (September 14), other members of staff took to LinkedIn to express their interest in vacancies at other firms. One worker, who says they have been with the company for more than a decade, wrote: "After receiving very sad news today that the company I have worked for for nearly 12 years have had to close its doors, I am now looking for a new role within Project Management and would appreciate your support with any potential positions available.

"Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. #OpenToWork." Another worker added: "Due to the unfortunate news about Robert Woodhead today I am looking for a new role and would appreciate your support. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice, or opportunities you can offer. #OpenToWork Good Luck to all colleagues similarly affected, I have enjoyed my time with the company."
