Staff forced to pay membership to drink water in work by 'world's worst boss'

The 'world's worst boss' has caused outrage online after they allegedly imposed a monthly membership fee for employees to drink the water in the workplace.

Taking to Reddit, an exasperated worker claims that their manager has restricted water access for employees and posted a picture of a sign on the office water cooler.

According to the notice, staff have to sign up to the workplace's 'water club' to use the water fountain - which incurs a $5 (£3.80) monthly fee, the Mirror reports.

The note reads: "Hello water drinker.

"If you would like to enjoy this delicious POLAND SPRING WATER please see Sandra or Michelle to get signed up to the very cool WATER CLUB.

"This water ain’t free yo.

"Members are currently enjoying unlimited refills for $5 per month."

Since being posted, the picture has received more than 72,000 upvotes and 4,500 comments from users who were stunned by the note.

One person wrote in response: “‘Ain’t free yo’ - the most professional words in the workplace.”

Another added: “For $60 (£45) a year that water would better cure cancer."

A third added: "I would just simply get water from it anyways, lol. What are they gonna do? Fire you for drinking water?"

Other Reddit users weighed in with similar workplace stories.

One man said: “So at the school I used to work at we had a water club because the tap water sucked.

“We get a new superintendent who decides (in what was basically the one and only cool thing he did as superintendent) that he would just cover the cost of water.

“This led to the discovery that the school secretary had been lying about how much water cost, overcharging everyone, and pocketing the difference.

“THAT led to the discovery that she had been skimming money from about a dozen other sources around the school too - all to feed her massive gambling addiction!”
