Staff were forced to use mop buckets to clear flood water from their restaurant as wind and rain from Hurricane Ian battered Merseyside.
The Met Office issued weather warnings for parts of Scotland on Friday, September 30, ahead of a spell of wet and windy weather which continues to sweep across the country. Rain and wind is being strengthened by the warm tropical air pushed northwards by Hurricane Ian, according to forecasters.
Despite there not being any yellow warnings in place across Merseyside, the region was hit by blustery conditions and heavy rain.

Chief Meteorologist for the Met Office, Paul Gundersen, said: "A spell of strong winds and heavy rain will push southeast throughout the day. The strongest winds are likely to be in northern Scotland, with gusts of 65 to 70 mph in coastal parts and perhaps 75 mph around the Northern Isles."
The bad weather hit Merseyside at around 11am with travel being disrupted and a large number of roads flooding. Staff at The Watering Can on Greenbank Road had to use mop buckets to try and clear floodwater away from their restaurant.
It came just three weeks after the business was forced to suspend service after a flash flood burst through its doors. Staff had to close the restaurant the following day to clean up dirt and debris left behind.
Luckily this time around, Highways came to remove some excess water and clear the blocked drains that were causing issues. Elsewhere in Merseyside, Regent Road bridge was closed due to water covering the carriageway.
In a recent update from The Met Office they said rain should clear tonight but it will still remain breezy.
