Stacey Solomon gave her fans and followers an up close and personal look at her latest home DIY project as she converted some discarded plinths into stunning display pillars.
The 32-year-old TV star frequently shares photos and videos of her family home, aka Pickle Cottage, and on Sunday she showed off videos and photos of her latest renovation project.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Stacey revealed that she had salvaged some cheap wooden plinths that her sister had used for some projects and transformed them into new make-up display units for her ‘Mermaid’ themed bathroom.
The star showed herself painting and spray painting away and then adding the finished pieces to her bathroom – with everything in place and set in time for her to start planning a birthday celebration for her oldest son.
The mum-of-four showed off her DIY skills and explained what she was up to.
Footage showed Stacey waving her paint brush towards two large wooden plinths in her garden.
She said: “My sister had these box thingies for her balloon stuff, so I’ve stolen them off of her because she doesn’t use them any more. I’m going to jazz them up and put them in the bathroom.
“She thinks I’m a freak, but trust me; they’re gonna look good.”
Adding a caption to the footage, she wrote: “I think they’ll look good in the mermaid bathroom. They might be ridiculous, but it’s worth a try.”
She then shared a montage of herself painting and spraying the blocks and then showed fiancé Joe Swash carrying them up to their bathroom – while Stacey and her sister then placed items on top of the boxes.
She wrote: “Ok so they’re still a bit wet but I made Joe bring them up anyway so I can show you so ignore the light/dark spots.”
Giving more details of her recycling project, she added: “These are just made from MDF & sealed. My sister wasn’t using them so I though I’d see if I could make them something. I’m going to seal mine too with a water proof sealer tomorrow.
“Remember they’re still wet they won’t look streaky in the morning. I’ll sand the bottoms tomorrow too. Also the stone spray will go more beige as it dries hard instead of the white it looks now.
“We will also have a shower screen but I think they’re quite cool. Maybe I’m mad.”
She then shared a video of herself inspecting the finished results and she could be heard gasping: “I actually love ‘em so much!”
The following morning, she showed off another snap of the plinths in all their glory – enjoying a coffee to herself before sorting birthday celebrations for her 14-year-old son, Zachary.
She wrote: “The plinths look even better in the sunrise. I need to get my bum in gear while the boys are at school. Clean up downstairs & make Zach’s birthday table. Hope you’re all ok this morning.”
