Stacey Solomon's low key wedding glam included a box dye transformation - and hairy legs

Stacey Solomon has revealed the low-key beauty regime that made her special day when she married Joe Swash.

The 32-year-old and her now husband Joe, 40, married on 24 July in the garden of their Essex family home they call Pickle Cottage.

They were surrounded by their four sons, baby daughter Rose, family, friends and self-made decorations befitting Stacey's love of DIY.

And she went homespun with her glam too - forgoing a posh salon for a DIY home dye job and avoiding shaving her legs.

“Am I going to shave the whole of my legs?” she wondered to Notebook magazine just three days before her wedding.

“It depends if I can squeeze it in. I’ve got really long legs and very little time, and that is always my predicament. And the dress is long.

"Hmm, I feel like I can get away with not doing it.”

Meanwhile, Stacey was busy turning herself blonde with a £10 L’Oréal box dye.

"First and foremost, I really enjoy doing things myself," she said explaining why she didn't opt for a trip to a salon.

"I get a real kick out of it. Also, I love being at home. I’m a real homebody. If I can do something there instead of going out, I will choose that every time."

So why did Stacey ditch her bright red hair for blonde before her wedding day? It all came down to feeling as natural as possible on the day.

"I love experimenting with hair colours but I feel like blonde is the colour I’ve been most of my life," she said.

"I have so much fun mixing it up but when I think about getting married, I always knew I wanted to go back to my most natural hair colour, so I can just really feel as “me” as possible. Although this is not natural [laughs]!"

Stacey is so happy with her DIY dye job that she now can't wait to get her wedding photos up on the mantlepiece.

"I think that’s why I really want to be as me as possible, because I do want it up on the walls," she said.

"The wedding is a really intimate thing for me and my family. When we look back I just want it to be so “us”, and everything that we ever dreamed it would be."

And Stacey admits she didn't ask Joe what he thought of her hair before going in with the dye.

"I don’t discuss any of my hair choices with Joe. I’m blown away if he even notices I’ve changed it!" she joked.

Stacey is now signed to L’Oréal and will be working with them on upcoming projects.

"It’s surreal! I’ve always used L’Oréal box dyes," she said. "They have the best coverage and when I went red with one last year, people kept asking what it was. Then, when L’Oréal got in touch, I was like, “Oh my God! I’m going to be one of those people who say I’m worth it!”
