Pickle Cottagewith new husband Joe Swash and their children – Zachary, Leighton, Rex, Harry, and Rose. DIY queen Stacey shared her fears that their dream family home, which she has spent years renovating, will become out of their means.
Stacey’s comments come as the energy price cap comes into place on October 1, meaning the typical household energy bill will be frozen at £2,500. However, a household’s actual energy bill could be more or less than the £2.5k, as Prime Minister Liz Truss ’ Energy Price Guarantee caps the cost per unit.
Speaking to the Guardian, Stacey said: "If our energy bill doubles, then it might well be beyond our means in the future. I’m not saying it is the same for us as someone on the breadline, ’cos it blooming well isn’t. But it’s such a scary time.
Stacey is just one of millions of people in the UK worrying about money, and whether or not they will be able to pay their bills this winter. She continued: "How have we allowed the country to get to this point? How can the government not be prepared for it?"
This comes after Stacey recently made headlines after a Loose Women clip from 2018 began circulating on social media after the Queen's passing. Adding to the publication, she said: "They’re regurgitating it at the moment, which is really difficult because obviously I didn’t say it on the Queen’s passing.
"I have nothing against the monarchy and the Queen seemed like a lovely lady, but I don’t understand why we pay a contribution to one of the wealthiest families in the world. Some of our kids weren’t even getting school lunches, and to know a huge amount of money is going to somebody who doesn’t need it, I just couldn’t get my head around that."
