Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s BBC show future revealed amid surprise marriage revelation

The BBC has commissioned a third series of Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s fly-on-the-wall reality show, continuing its focus on the couple’s busy family life.

The programme, Stacey & Joe, follows the pair at their Essex home, Pickle Cottage, alongside their blended family.

The show has already aired two series, documenting everyday moments with their children, including Rex, six, Rose, four, and Belle, three, as well as Solomon’s sons Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 14, from previous relationships, and Swash’s son Harry, 18.

The second series captured a range of milestones, from Belle’s first days at nursery to family celebrations and a skiing trip.

The forthcoming instalment is expected to centre on Swash’s plans to build a fishing lake on the grounds of their countryside property, as per the BBC’s announcement.

Announcing the renewal, the couple said: “ "If you watched the first series, you'll know we've been talking about the lakes for ages, it feels a bit surreal to finally see it coming to life.

“With the juggle of family life thrown in, we're learning as we go, so we'll be just as surprised as everyone else to see how it all unfolds!

“A huge thank you to everyone who has watched Stacey & Joe so far. We're so grateful and can't wait for you to see this next series.”

The news comes amid recent speculation about the couple not being legally married, despite celebrating a lavish wedding at their home in 2022..

The couple tied the knot at their £1.2 million Essex property, Pickle Cottage, in July of that year, in what they described as “the best day of their lives”, surrounded by family and celebrity friends.

At the time, they encouraged well-wishers to donate to the bereaved children’s charity Grief Encounter in place of commercial coverage.

However, it is now being reported that the ceremony was not legally binding, meaning the pair are not officially married in the eyes of the law.

The event took place at their private home rather than a licensed venue, which is required in England and Wales for a marriage to be legally recognised.

While the couple have long presented themselves as husband and wife, their wedding was symbolic rather than formal from a legal standpoint.

At the time, Solomon, 36, said they planned to register the marriage separately as their home did not have a civil ceremony licence. More than three years on, they are said not to have completed the legal process.

The revelation comes just weeks after Solomon addressed speculation about her relationship with Swash, 44, after she was spotted without her wedding ring.

Appearing on This Morning, she dismissed the rumours, joking: “Have I not been wearing my ring? Probably took it off to go to the toilet.”

She later added: “Maybe I dropped my ring in the lake… with our marriage!”

Solomon and Swash began dating in 2016 after meeting on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, having first met on the show in 2010.

They got engaged in 2020 and moved into Pickle Cottage the following year.
