St Patrick's day parade-goers in stitches as Enoch Burke floats appear all over country

People are in stitches after parade goers shared videos of floats that depicted Enoch Burke being removed from Wilson Hospital school and were used in St Patrick’s Day festivities around Ireland.

One float in Shrule Co Mayo, depicted Burke being removed from court, the words "High Court" were written on the cardboard on the float.

Two people dressed in hi-vis jackets remove the person dressed as Burke, dressed in the outfit which became immortalised in a Valentine’s Day card, who is standing in front of a person dressed as a judge.

The two people in hi-vis jackets, supposedly playing Gardaí, then repeat the process of attempting to remove Burke from the court as the float heads around the parade.

Another float, which was reportedly used in the Cavan parade, was much more simple and had a man dressed as Enoch standing in the same position, much like the photo taken of the real Enoch Burke as he stood outside Wilson Hospital school, with a member of the Gardaí asking him to leave.

One person shared a post on Twitter with a video of the float of Burke being removed from the High Court, alongside the caption: “I'm looking forward to seeing the best Enoch Floats from around the country today. Could we use #EnochFloat as the hashtag?”

Replying to the thread, one Twitter user said: “Oscar-winning performances lads.”

The Twitter user just couldn’t get enough of the video and added a second comment which said: “I can't stop watching it's a gem.”

Another added: “This is outstanding. It is pure art.

“Put it up there with the poetry of Heaney, the music of Christy Moore, the Ardagh chalice or the All Ireland Hurling Final.”

More users shared what they thought of the float, with another adding: “That is genuinely brilliant!” While one more posted: “I can't stop watching it's a gem.”

One more simply posted: “Amazing.”
