Buddies fans could have seen the last of Connor Ronan and Jordan Jones after they returned to their parent clubs for treatment.
With just three games left of the Premiership season, the talented pair have been nursing ankle and shoulder knocks respectively.
Ronan, who just swept the board at the St Mirren player of the year awards, has returned to Wolves while former Rangers and Kilmarnock winger Jones is back with Wigan Athletic.
The double blow leaves the Saints short of numbers heading into this weekend's clash with Dundee.
Buddies boss Stephen Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: "Connor Ronan and Jordan Jones have gone back to their parent clubs for treatment.
"We await updates of their injuries. Connor has been playing with an ankle injury and Jordan with a shoulder injury.
"They've gone back for scans so they're likely to be unavailable.
"I believe it'll be hard for them to play again this season, in such a small timescale. We'll be dictated to by the parent clubs.
"Connor has been pivotal this season. We'll assess it and stay in touch with them.
"We've got 14 fit players who are fighting for us. They're playing with knocks and injections and it's a credit to them. They're really fighting for the football club.
