St Mirren striker Lewis Jamieson agrees new contract as Stephen Robinson talks up 'terrific' attitude

St Mirren youngster Lewis Jamieson will continue his career in Paisley after agreeing a one-year contract extension.

The 21-year-old's current deal was set to expire in the summer, with Stephen Robinson revealing last week the academy product had turned an initial offer down.

But after he make a lively cameo against Hibs at Easter Road last weekend, Jamieson has now agreed terms and signed a new deal that sees him tied to the club until 2024.

St Mirren boss Robinson insists Jamieson's attitude since returning from a fruitful loan spell with Airdrie has been 'terrific'.

He said: "He's a young player that we brought back from his loan in January and we felt he needed to get fitter and stronger.

"That was the only thing holding him back as he has so much ability.

"He has shown a terrific attitude. He's dedicated, he's got fitter and stronger, and he's now right on the verge of the first team now.

" He's a talented boy that we want to keep at the football club. I see him as a big part of things going forward and he's another academy player that comes into the fold and bolsters our numbers and quality."

Jamieson made his Buddies debut as a substitute against Rangers at Ibrox in August 2020, while he has had loan spells at Clyde, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and most recently Airdrie.

Jay Henderson's future remains uncertain, with the winger yet to commit his future to St Mirren having been offered a new deal.
