St Mirren midfielder believes fans will play crucial part in final top-six push

Mark O’Hara believes the backing of the Buddies can help inspire Stephen Robinson’s team to a crucial win against Livingston.

St Mirren have the second best home record outside of the Old Firm this season – making the SMiSA Stadium a fortress in their push for a top-six finish.

After slipping out of the top half of the Premiership table just before the international break, the Saints have the perfect opportunity to bounce straight back into it when they face David Martindale’s Lions tomorrow afternoon in Paisley.

A win would catapult Robinson’s side back above Livi in the table, who sit just one point above them with only four games to go before the split.

Stand-in skipper O’Hara, who has donned the armband in Joe Shaughnessy’s absence throughout the campaign, feels a packed SMiSA will help roar the home side on to a potentially crucial three points in the hunt for a top-six spot. He said: “The aim for us now has got to be to get into that top six.

“It’s going to be tough but we’ve come all this way and it’s just one last push now to get ourselves over the line and achieve what we want to this season.

“We’ve fed off the energy of the crowd and that’s why we’ve been so successful here. We’re going to need everyone in the stadium to get right behind us in our two remaining home games.

“Everyone’s so hungry and we’re determined and pushing each other on. We’ll be at the top of our game and we’ve got a real desire to achieve this top-six finish we’re craving.”

O’Hara added: “The backing we’ve had warrants that and being a part of that has been special.

“Seeing the joy on a Saturday when we’ve won is a great feeling and hopefully we can keep doing that .”
