St Mirren hope they have persuaded academy star Murray Campbell his future lies in Paisley.
The talented 15-year-old is currently in Belfast with the Saints first team, with manager Stephen Robinson a big admirer of the young defender.
He played the entire second half of the Buddies’ comfortable 3-0 win against Crusaders on Monday night, and may well see more minutes against Linfield on Saturday afternoon.
A number of English Premier League clubs, including Wolves, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, are all understood to be keeping a keen eye on the Scotland Under-16 international.
But St Mirren are hopeful he will now sign a pro contract with the Buddies when he turns 16 next month.
Robinson said: “Murray Campbell is only 15 and was playing against really experienced Irish league players and coped really well.
“Everyone has got an opportunity to impress me now, especially the younger boys on this trip.
"There’s always a chance to make your mark, in training sessions and in games.”
