St Cuthbert Wanderers are eying a place in the first round of the Scottish Cup this weekend.
The Kirkcudbright side travel to Linlithgow Rose in the preliminary round as they bid to make it through to the main draw.
And assistant manager Scott Black says everyone is looking forward to the big occasion.
He said: “It’s one of those ties that everyone notices. Linlithgow Rose are one of the biggest teams from the East and have a great
history.
“We’re expecting a tough game but as much as we’ll respect them we need to have a game plan to go and win the game.
“First and foremost we’ll need to defend well but we’ll certainly go there to try to progress. You can’t sit in and let a team like that dictate the game and get on top of you. You need to try to carry a threat and go to win the game.
It’s a huge game for the club to try to get into the first round.
“We haven’t been able to get to one of their games but we’ve been watching their highlights. They had a good win away from home at Sauchie at the weekend and have started the season really well. We know they are going to be really dangerous but we’re confident we can go there and get a result.”
The South of Scotland League champions picked up their first points of the campaign on Saturday when they defeated Lochmaben by the odd goal in five.
Saints took an early lead with an own goal but Charlie Maxwell soon equalised for Lochmaben.
The visitors went back in front 10 minutes before the break thanks to Cammy Shaw, Kealan Broanan doubling the advantage in the second half.
Maxwell struck again late on for Lochmaben but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.
Black said: “When you factor in the conditions it wasn’t the best day because it had been so sunny and then it rained, the pitch hacked up a bit.
“I think we made it hard for ourselves. We had some missed chances and it could have been a wider margin but at the same time it’s good to go away and pick up your first three points of the season.
“As much as there’s stuff to improve on, it’s hard to be too critical when you go away from home and pick up three points.
“We certainly did that on Saturday. We may only have scored three goals but we had a lot of shots on target which was pleasing considering it was a short turn around.”
