Police were called to St Anne's following a concern for someone's welfare at a railway bridge this evening (March 16).

A major emergency service response was seen by eyewitnesses in the suburb after police, ambulances and the fire service were called to Langton Court Road at 5.20pm. The road was closed and trains were stopped to ensure the safety of the emergency crews.

The incident has disrupted train travel through Bristol, with National Rail issuing an update to inform passengers that services would be delayed. An update posted on their website at 5.47pm said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon / Westbury. So they can safely do their work, all lines are closed.
