A fire has broken out in the heart of Edinburgh, causing road closures in the city centre near Waverley train station.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) teams are currently at the scene after being alerted to the incident today, December 7, at around 11.15am.

Six fire engines and up to 30 firefighters were deployed to St Andrew Square where the blaze began in a commercial property. There were no initial reports of injuries.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.15am on Wednesday, December 7, to reports of smoke coming from a property on South St Andrew Street, Edinburgh.
"Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a commercial property on the ground floor of a five-storey building. There are no reported casualties at this time, and crews are still at the scene."
Officers from the Police Scotland force are also in attendance at the scene. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.35am on Wednesday, December 7, police were called to a report of a fire in South St Andrew Street, Edinburgh. Officers are in attendance."
The ongoing incident is affecting traffic in the area, with road closures and reports of people being evacuated from nearby buildings.
Following the incident, Edinburgh Trams have diverted their services. They said: "Due to ongoing fire services at St Andrew Square, trams will be running from Edinburgh Airport to West End. More updates will come as they arise. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."
