SSLC exams get under way

A day after Plus Two Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations got under way in Kerala, SSLC examinations too kicked off on Thursday.

As many as 4,26,999 regular students and 408 students in the private category have registered for the examinations being held in 2,961 centres in the State and outside.

On Thursday, students appeared for the First Language Part I examination. Though they were apprehensive about the question paper pattern in the wake of the government decision to limit focus area questions to 70%, the reaction of the students was largely positive after the exam, with many hopeful of good grades.

The SSLC examinations come at the end of an academic year in which classes shifted from online to offline, increasing students’ confidence.

Though COVID-19 protocols such as wearing masks and sanitising remain in place, students seemed glad to appear for the examinations without the spectre of a disease spread looming large as in the past two years.

SSLC students will next appear for the Second Language English examination on April 6.

The SSLC examinations will conclude on April 29. The IT practical examinations will be held from May 3 to 10.
