NEW DELHI: In a remarkable feat, Sri Lankan debutant Milan Rathnayake shattered a long-standing Test record by scoring the highest runs by a number 9 batter in men's red-ball cricket. The 28-year-old surpassed India's Balwinder Sandhu's record of 71, a splendid knock that came against Pakistan in Hyderabad in 1983.
Sandhu scored 71 in the first innings and then 12 in the second innings against the arch-rivals in that Test match.
