Squid Game season two on Netflix review: this gore-fest still hits all the right notes second time around

When it first aired in 2021, nobody expected much from Squid Game. Written and performed entirely in Korean, it introduced us to a dystopian hellscape where poor people played kid’s games for money. If they lost, they were killed.

It was released without fanfare. Nevertheless, it swept the world, clocking up record ratings for Netflix and ensuring Halloween costumes that year were dominated by green tracksuits and masks adorned with triangles and squares.
