BENGALURU: Even as the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) are expanding the net to curb the proliferation of banned substances among young athletes, and catch dope cheats, a section of people in the sports fraternity are busy spreading the use banned substances through social media, labelling them as legal supplements.
Of late, there has been a rise in social media posts catching the attention of coaches and young athletes, especially from the rural areas. These posts are selling spurious supplements as “essential ingredient for success mixed with long hours of training”.
