Ayrshire’s transport network is set to be boosted by an investment of £3.65million.
SPT (Strathclyde Partnership for Transport) have pledged funding to improve travel networks in North, South and East Ayrshire.
Each county will take a slice of the £3.65 million, with the bulk of the travel pot going to East Ayrshire, with £1.82 million set to be invested.
North Ayrshire will see £1.03 million invested, while £800k will go towards improvements in South Ayrshire.
The funds in East Ayrshire are set to go directly to improving bus stations and a park and ride in Kilmarnock, whilst cash in South Ayrshire will be splurged on cycle and bus routes.
In North Ayrshire six projects will receive funding, with bus terminals and active travel routes amongst those set to be improved.
The projects set to receive funding will support Strathclyde’s emerging new Regional Transport Strategy – which is set to be launched later this year.
The strategy will aim to improve accessibility, affordability, availability and connectivity of transport Strathclyde, as well as reducing carbon emissions and promoting active travel.

£1,800,000 for bus station improvements
£20,000 for the Kilmarnock bus park and ride
North Ayrshire
£50,000 for Ardrossan Harbour interchange
£400,000 for B174 active travel links
£80,000 for Brodick to Corrie cycle path
£100,000 for bus corridor improvements
£350,000 for Cumbrae Ferry bus stop and queuing facilities
£50,000 for Irvine cycle friendly town
South Ayrshire
£100,000 for bus infrastructure improvements
£700,000 for local cycle network improvements
