On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers notified starting slot cornerback Arthur Maulet they were releasing him. With Maulet out, newly-signed Chandon Sullivan and Levi Wallace will be the top candidates to replace Maulet in the lineup.
Sullivan was signed as a free agent during the 2023 NFL draft. Sullivan started 30 games over the previous three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. Sullivan is a natural slot corner and the frontrunner to win the job.
But don’t rule out Wallace. He joined the Steelers last season and quickly worked his way into the starting lineup. Wallace appeared in 15 games with nine starts and finished the season with four interceptions. With the Steelers having drafted Joey Porter Jr. in the second round, Wallace could be the player who gets moved.
