Carol Vorderman has once again attempted to clarify her position on being seen with former Health Secretary Matt Hancock at the Cheltenham Races. The 62-year-old spoke with Josie Gibson and sports star AP McCoy on ITV’s This Morning on Wednesday, March 15 about the event and which celebs had been spotted there.
“We also saw you with Matt Hancock?” host Josie asked Carol, who replied: “I wasn’t with Matt Hancock. I was out watching Honeysuckle cantering down.”
AP then jumped in and cheekily digged: “Are you trying to defend yourself?” to which the former Countdown star replied: “Yes I am. I was watching Honeysuckle with my mate Jules and I had a tap on the shoulder - ‘Hello, I’m Gina’, ‘Hello, I’m Matt’ - 90 second conversation then I turned round and watched the race. That’s it. There happened to be a photographer there.”
Carol’s explanation comes after she released a two part social media video that went into detail about her encounter with former I’m A Celebrity star Matt. You can read more about that here.
During the clip, Carol described how her and the politician’s meeting was a “setup” and that photographers had caught her at the wrong time. She said that, during their chat, Matt praised her for work raising awareness for dyslexia.
