Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn't been shy in recreating iconic comic book covers from the webhead's storied history.
The Amazing Fantasy #15 shot revealed as part of the slow dripfeed of Brand New Day trailer breadcrumbs was first up, but it's actually an image of obscure villain Tarantula attacking Spider-Man (which you can see below) that has set off my Spider-Senses.

The framing of the moment is almost identical to the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #134, which sees Spider-Man battle Tarantula on a cruise ship, with beleaguered police officers watching from below.

In the 1974 issue, Spider-Man is swiped by Tarantula's sharp boots and collapses. He is then confronted by The Punisher, who believes Spider-Man was involved in kidnapping those on the vessel.
The following issue sees Punisher and Spider-Man eventually team up to take down Tarantula, which could influence what happens with the unlikely pairing in Brand New Day.
Previously, director Destin Daniel Cretton's assistant Ziyi Cao offered a glimpse at the comic book covers that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was looking to put into the MCU film, with Amazing Spider-Man #134 being one of the focal points of the now-deleted post.
So, while Peter Parker and Frank Castle may be on the outs throughout the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, there's every chance that a common – and surprising – enemy will unite the duo to fight for the greater good.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas on July 31.
