Spice Girls' Mel B 'engaged to Leeds hairdresser' who 'restored her trust in men'

Spice Girls member Mel B has reportedly got engaged to her boyfriend Rory McPhee this week.

The singer, 47 - nicknamed Scary Spice in the pop group - is said to have "burst into tears" when her hairdresser beau, 34, proposed with a £100,000 ring on Wednesday.

The couple are understood to have been together for around four years and reportedly got engaged at country hotel Cliveden House, located in Berkshire, earlier this week.

Mel - who has had a number of high profile relationships over the course of her career - is said to have been "overwhelmed" by the proposal from her partner Rory.

A source told The Sun that Rory has restored her trust in men. They said: "Mel is so happy and this is such a big deal for her because she has been though such a lot".

They added that Rory - who is said to be close friends with her cousin, actor Christian Cooke, 35 - has got her to "believe in love again" following past experiences.

According to the outlet, the proposal saw Rory get down on one knee in front of Mel - who has three children from previous relationships - with a £100,000 diamond ring.

The source said Mel is "thrilled" with the champagne-coloured ring, which is said to have been encrusted with smaller diamonds that were set on a rose gold band.

Rory is understood to be from her hometown Leeds and has "known her for years". Discussing the singer's now-fiancé, the source said: "He is madly in love with her."

The source described Rory as a "down-to-earth guy" who isn't interested in the limelight. They added that he has worked "incredibly hard" to build his own business.

Mel's rep declined to comment when approached by the Mirror.
