Spice Girls make huge announcement after sending fans into meltdown with cryptic tweet

Spice Girls have made a huge new music announcement after sending fans into meltdown with a cryptic tweet.

The girl band have excitingly announced a new and expanded 25th anniversary edition of their 1997 album ‘Spiceworld’, including previously unreleased live track and an unheard original demo recording of their exclusive hit ‘Step To Me’.

Fans were sent into a spin on Monday when the band posted an image with three emojis on Twitter, in reference to their long-lost tracks. The emojis included a set of ladders, a peace sign and a woman waving which fans read as "step to me."

Step To Me was a chart-topper that was originally created alongside their 1997 Pepsi ad. The only way to obtain the track was to collect 20 pink ring pulls from cans of Pepsi and post them off in return for a physical four track ‘not in the shops’ CD single several weeks later.

The single had never found its way to streaming services but is now set to be included in their 25 th anniversary album.

Curated by the band, ‘SPICEWORLD 25’ promises to bring together the original chart topping album with some of their favourite bonus tracks and B-Sides, along with previously unreleased live recordings from the archives.

The digital deluxe version of the album features a series of live songs from their 1997/1998 tour of North America, Europe and the UK as well as a new “ambient” remix of ‘Viva Forever’ from John Themis who went on to co-write Emma Bunton‘s ‘What Took You So Long’.

After their hugely successful stadium tour which saw the Spice Girls sell out 13 dates across the UK, the girls recently announced they'd be releasing a new docuseries looking back at their biggest moments.

And now the world-famous band has revealed the album as a major milestone celebration for the original album, Spiceworld, in November.

The iconic ‘Spiceworld’ album, released on the 3rd November 1997, spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Official Charts UK album chart and 48 weeks on the UK Top 40.

It sold 192,000 copies in the UK Week 1, passing a million sales after just eight weeks.

The release birthed some of their biggest hits including Viva Forever, Stop and Spice Up Your Life with many fans hoping for another tour to mark the occasion.

The ‘SPICEWORLD 25’ album will be released on November 4 th .

The band said ahead of the release: “The ‘Spiceworld’ era was such a fun time for us; we’d just had a number one album with Spice, we were travelling all over the world and meeting our amazing fans, we released our second album AND we had our very own movie!

“Who would’ve thought it? It’s crazy to think that 25 years have passed.”
