If No. 5 Tennessee was supposed to roll into Columbia and score an easy win over South Carolina on Saturday, somebody forgot to tell the Gamecocks.
Spencer Rattler competed 30 of his 37 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns (not a typo), with no interceptions as South Carolina rolled to a shocking 63-38 upset over the Vols.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker did his best to keep his team in the game, but he left the game early in the fourth quarter with an apparent leg injury, and didn’t return. Hooker finished the game with 247 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
Hopefully, Hooker’s injury isn’t one that will cost him a significant amount of time, but this loss is obviously a huge blow the Vols chances of making an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
