Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd has pleaded guilty to violently assaulting his new girlfriend after his release from jail, including attacking her with a set of barbecue tongs.

The 38-year-old pleaded guilty over a prison video link on Tuesday to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damaging property.
