Northumberland County Council is to take action on speeding cars on a notorious stretch of road blighted by racing.
Council officers have confirmed they will carry out a speed survey on the A193 Links Road in Seaton Sluice. It comes after a petition was presented to councillors on Cramlington, Blyth and Seaton Valley Local Area Council in May requesting the 30mph zone on the route be extended past properties at Seafield Mews.
The petition, which was signed by 87 residents, also requested the crossing at Seafield Mews be improved and a range of traffic calming measures be considered. Residents also asked for the existing speed camera is moved further north, as they believe the existing location is potentially affected by the pedestrian crossing at the Astley Arms pub.
