Specsavers event in Larkhall raises over £900 for children’s hospital charity

A Halloween-themed event hosted by a Larkhall opticians raised the spirits of the town this month, as well as more than £900 for a children’s hospital charity.

The Specsavers team, located at the Union Street store, pulled together the annual Halloween event at the local Crosskeys Bowling Club inviting families from across the area to join them for an evening of dancing and fancy-dress fun.

Through ticket sales and a raffle that took place on the evening, the store managed to raise more than £900 for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to help raise funds for the Schiehallion Ward at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, which treats young children undergoing cancer treatment.

The store has so far raised more than £1500 for the charity across the year, due to a personal link to the hospital ward.

Steven Brennan, store director at Specsavers in Larkhall, told Lanarkshire Live : "We’re hugely grateful to everyone who visited our fantastic Halloween event at the local bowling club.

"We hope everyone had a great time raising money for a brilliant cause and I’m proud of the team for pulling out all the stops to make it the success it was.

"We also had more than 80 raffles prizes, many of which were donated by local businesses in Larkhall, so we’d also like to thank them for their support.

"The ongoing commitment we’ve had to raising funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has proven a huge success and we’re well on the way to reach our end of year target of £2200.

"If anyone would like to donate to this cause, please pay us a visit in store and any support is hugely appreciated."
