Specialist officers tackling child exploitation in Oldham say they are currently working with 65 young people. Oldham’s Complex Safeguarding Unit was set up to protect kids at risk of sexual and criminal exploitation.
During the summer holidays two people were convicted following investigations carried out by the unit. A review into allegations of abuse which was published in June found that vulnerable children in Oldham had been failed despite efforts to protect them between 2011 and 2014.
