'Special TON': Deepti Sharma becomes first Indian to take 100 T20I wickets

NEW DELHI: Seasoned all-rounder Deepti Sharma on Wednesday became the first India international to reach the 100 wickets landmark in T20Is. Deepti achieved the feat during India's second group match against West Indies at the Women's T20 World Cup in Cape Town.

Deepti reached the 100-wicket milestone in the last over of the West Indies innings when she bamboozled Aly Fletcher (0).

The 24-year-old returned impressive figures of 3 for 15 as she helped India restrict West Indies Women to a below-par 118 for 6.

Her other two scalps in the match included Stafanie Taylor (42) and Shemaine Campbelle (30).

In the men's circuit, Yuzvendra Chahal is currently the leading wicket-taker with 91 scalps.

West Indies off-spinner Anisa Mohammed (125) currently holds the record for most wickets in Women's T20Is.

Anisa is followed by Pakistan's Nida Dar (121) and Ellyse Perry (120) of Australia at second and third spot respectively.

Deepti is currently at the 9th spot on the list of women's cricketers with most wickets in T20Is.
