Manchester City fans have heaped praise on Julian Alvarez after the forward scored a stunning goal for Argentina during their 2-0 World Cup win against Poland.
Group C's final round of matches saw Poland take on Argentina at Stadium 974 on Wednesday night, as Alvarez was handed a starting role by Lionel Scaloni. Despite the South American's dominance, the scores were level at half-time after Wojciech Szczesny superbly saved a first-half penalty from Lionel Messi.
However, it did not take long for the flood gates to seemingly open after the break, as Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister scored less than a minute after the restart. The strike appeared to settle Argentina down, as they began to click into gear, playing the ball with more purpose and direction.

It was unsurprisingly some clever footwork from none other than Lionel Messi in the middle of the pitch that managed to turn defence into attack, as he carried the ball with speed towards the Poland penalty area. After a series of clever passes, Enzo Fernandez picked out Alvarez on the edge of the 18-yard-box.
The City star then superbly controlled the ball, before shifting his weight to rifle a searing right-footed strike past the outstretched Szczesny and into the far corner. The Blues striker then wheeled away in delight as he was mobbed by his teammates.
As the ball hit the back of the net, the noise ratcheted up to another level, as the Argentinian faithful blew the roof of the stadium. City fans watching around the world also failed to hide their excitement, as they took to social media to shower the 22-year-old in praise for his goal and overall performance.
