Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is currently on a 20-state tour to campaign for House Republicans and GOP candidates across the nation in an effort to maintain their majority in the upcoming November elections. Johnson's tour includes visits to key districts in states such as Wisconsin, Arizona, Ohio, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, and Connecticut, where he will meet with candidates and engage in fundraising activities.
Following President Biden's withdrawal from the White House race, Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as his successor. Harris is now gearing up for her own campaign blitz in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. She is expected to announce her chosen running mate before her event in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Johnson expressed the Republican Party's determination to expand their majority nationwide, citing concerns over the economy, border security, and global stability under the Biden-Harris administration. He emphasized the need for common-sense, pro-growth, and America First policies that Republicans aim to implement if they secure the majority, flip the Senate, and win the White House.
With just three months left until Election Day, the 2024 election cycle is in its final sprint. Johnson has been a successful fundraiser for the House GOP, raising over $18.5 million for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) since assuming the role of speaker in October.
During his tour, Johnson is also focusing on supporting frontline lawmakers, with planned stops in various districts, including Virginia's 2nd Congressional District and Maine's 2nd Congressional District. The NRCC has launched a battle station program to provide additional resources to campaigns in key districts, aiming to secure swing seats and potentially unseat moderate Democrats.
Despite Democrats' recent fundraising success and renewed enthusiasm over Harris, Johnson and other Republicans remain confident in their campaign strategy. They assert that Harris is equally responsible for the progressive agenda of the Biden administration, emphasizing that the election is about policies rather than personalities.
