This month, upmarket Spanish restaurant BiBo in Shoreditch will host a £100-a-head, ten-dish dinner cooked by legendary Spanish chefs José Pizarro and Dani Garcia.
Pizarro, known for his many restaurants across London, will join forces with the Michelin-starred Dani Garcia, Bibo's chef-patron, for what's being billed as a masterclass of modern Spanish cuisine. It will be a rare chance to see two masters of Spanish cooking alongside each other.
The four-hands dinner is set to include five creations from each chef, including three tapas plates, a main dish each and a dessert each. Guests will be offered a glass of sangria on arrival.
Tapas is set to include Pizarro’s take on a Caesar salad and Dani Garcia’s famed oxtail brioche, alongside fried langoustine with basil and a black octopus paella.
The meal is set to continue with Pizarro’s tuna belly with almonds and green apple, and Garcia’s grilled avocado and feta cheese salpicon, ending with a fried flower rosette waffle with saffron custard and a classic burned Basque cheesecake
Garcia reached the pinnacle of the culinary mountaintop with his eponymous three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Andalusia, closing it in 2019 to focus on what he called “making Spanish cuisine an overall more casual affair”. Bibo opened in London in 2021, later being named by the Standard as one of London's most glamorous restaurants.
Pizarro is one of Britain's best-known Spanish chefs, thanks in part to his regular appearances on Saturday Kitchen and his restaurants in Bermondsey, at the RA and his more recent takeover of The Swan Inn, Esher.
