Spanish cops STILL waiting to hear from UK police on missing rugby star Levi Davis

Spanish police investigating missing X-Factor star Levi Davis claim they still have not yet been officially informed he is missing.

Over a week since the rugby player was last spotted, the official Catalonian police force - Mossos d'Esquadra, says they found out about his disappearance through media reports.

The 24-year-old left the UK to go to Ibiza with a friend but on October 29, he suddenly took off alone on a boat to Barcelona without cash or clothes.

CCTV footage obtained by the Mirror showed him in the Spanish capital leaving the Old Irish Pub that same day.

But since then, Spanish Police say there have not been any sightings and they are yet to receive a missing person’s report from police in the UK.

A spokesperson for Mossos d'Esquadra said: “We opened an investigation for the case. At this moment we don’t have any report of his disappearance.

“We noticed [he was missing] because of the media and on social networks. Then we transferred the information to the investigators and they opened an investigation.

“We don’t have any report about [his disappearance] and we are waiting. We know that his family has said they made a report to the police but we don’t know officially yet.”

The Mirror asked West Midlands Police if the Spanish police had been informed Levi was missing, to which a spokesperson said: “Our understanding is that the Spanish Police should be looking for Levi.”

When asked directly if and when they had sent the missing person’s report, a spokesperson responded: “Our enquiries are continuing and we are liaising with the missing person’s next of kin.”

Levi’s mother Julie Davis appeared on ITV ’s Good Morning Britain today and explained that before heading to Ibiza, Levi had said he needed to ‘go on a break’ in the wake of an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee.

Speaking to host Susanna Reid she said: “Levi said, ‘I need to just sort my head out and have some time to refresh myself’.

“He had recently had an ACL injury and he thought that was a good time for him to go.”

His sister Candeece Balfour also made an emotional plea for him to return.

Speaking to the Mirror she said: “I just want to tell him that I love him. I want to remind him and if anything he knows that my mum of all people is the person he can go to.

“I just want him to come home and any support he needs, we can be there.

“He was basically in Ibiza with a friend and he left all his stuff and he didn't go back.

“That's what's even more concerning, because why would you not come back for your clothes?

“All the information we’re getting, it’s just scary. So I’m not really as positive as we should be. It’s been a week.”

Levi left for Ibiza with a friend Richard Squire, who has also set up a GoFundMe to help find the rugby player.

The CCTV clip obtained by the Mirror showed the 24-year-old winger exiting the Old Irish Pub on the popular Spanish street Rambla dels Caputxins on that same day, at 10.05pm.

In the video, Levi can be seen carrying a small black rucksack, while wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt, black trousers, and black and white trainers.

The 24-year-old currently plays for Worthing Raiders in the National League 2 South and had started his career in 2017 at Bath.

His former club took to Twitter and shared an appeal for him to be found asking for others to spread the word on social media.

As well as his former club, sports agent and close friend Tom Varndell took to social media to raise awareness.

Speaking to the Mirror he said: “Everyone is completely in the dark over this. Like everyone's just trying to piece together bits of information coming through slowly.

“I'm potentially gonna go over to Barcelona as well to see if we can locate him and find out and track his whereabouts using obviously street CCTV.”
