Defending champions Italy couldn't have started Euro 2024 in a less auspicious manner. One down to Albania after 23 seconds after Federico Dimarco's errant throw-in, the Azzurri recovered impressively through Alessandro Bastoni and a cracker from the irrepressible Nicolò Barella to open their tournament defence with a 2-1 win. Italy have been frequent vanquishers of Spain in this tournament – and did for them three years ago – so can head coach Luciano Spalletti do it again?

Spain vs Italy live stream: team news
Spain are almost certain to name the same starting XI that began the 3-0 drubbing of Croatia, with captain Morata having taken a full part in training after being forced off through injury. Aymeric Laporte is fully fit but will likely start on the bench.
Perhaps the only decision coach De la Fuente has to make is whether to recall Dani Olmo, albeit that would require dropping goalscorer Ruiz or direct winger Nico Williams.
Mateo Retegui is pushing to replace Gianluca Scamacca up front for Italy, the latter's steadfast refusal to do any off-the-ball running impressive in its intransigence. The Azzurri have no fresh injury worries, so any changes will be tactical to try to snuff out Spain's myriad attackers.
Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori was superb against Albania and should start again alongside goalscoring partner Bastoni.
