Spain joins mourning for Queen with books of condolence opened for ex-pats

Condolence books have opened in cities across Spain for ex-pats and holidaymakers to share their memories and messages celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Various government bodies and officials in the country have also added their tributes to the former monarch.

Spain's King Felipe sent a telegram offering his condolences to the Royal family. He wrote: "You are all in our hearts and thoughts. We will miss Her dearly."

Three days of mourning have been announced in the nation's capital Madrid, while a single day of commemoration will be observed in Andalusia. In Benidorm, where more than 4,000 British citizens reside, the local authority tweeted: "Deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II we wish to express our deepest condolences to the British Royal Family and the People of the United Kingdom."
