Spain issues urgent travel rule update for UK teenagers and families

Spain have updated their travel rules for those aged between 12 and 17 years old.

At present, everyone over the age of 12 must provide proof of a negative covid test as well as proof of being fully vaccinated.

The country recently updated their vaccination rules at the start of this month giving a time limit to travellers who have had the vaccine.

It means that travellers must have had their final primary dose within 270 days (nine months) prior to their arrival.

As a result, if your last covid primary dose was given more than the required time-limit, you must have had your booster.

However in an update, this has changed for a specific age group.

According to the BBC, the Spanish tourism minister Fernando Valdés confirmed that unvaccinated teenagers will be allowed to enter Spain from Monday (February 14), however they must show proof of a negative PCR test - right in time for half term.

The test must be taken within 72 hours prior to their arrival in the country.

The move will likely anger some with many having their half term holiday turned into chaos and cancelling due to the vaccine rules - a rule that has now been removed.

The rules still apply to those aged 18 years and above and will come into force at 11pm on February 13.
