LUCKNOW: BSP took up issues related to riots and rape cases to hit out at ruling BJP in the state and the previous SP government. In a series of tweets under its ongoing social media campaign, senior party members asked BJP and SP to explain who was responsible for the breakdown of law and order in the state over the past 10 years.
A party member said that the senior members have questioned the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP about the 134 riots that took place when the party was in power from 2012-2017. Due to the terrible governance of SP and BJP governments, UP has seen a breakdown of law and order under which there has been a rape in the state every two hours, it said.
It added that when Mayawati was CM, all women were safe and there was not a single riot. Law and order was the best and there was peace in the state. Criminals had been rooted out of the state and UP was on the path to success.
When the court’s order came on the Ram Temple issue, Mayawati handled law and order strictly and there was peace in the state. No mischievous element could create any crisis in the state, the member said.
In a tweet, party MP and general secretary SC Mishra said: “Due to SP’s failures, there were 134 riots in the state. Due to the failure of SP and BJP, there have been crimes against women over the past 10 years. ‘134 dangon ka jawab kaun dega, har do ghante mein ho rahe balatkaron ka jawab kaun dega’,” he said.
Spokesperson Dr MH Khan tweeted: “Under BJP rule, the police burns our daughters by pouring petrol on them, as it happened in Hathras. People will never forget the barbarity shown to our daughters.”
